Front Desk Staff - Music School and Retail Store
Seeking inspired and down to earth individual with a passion for
customer service and a heart for music.
Starland Music Center in Alameda for 25 years has been offering quality
music lessons to young people and adults and a retail facility which
sells musical instruments and accessories to the general public as well
as our students. The Front Desk Staff has front line responsibility for
creating a warm, friendly environment while effectively and successfully
satisfying our customer’s needs with our music products. With respect to
the school, you will be directly involved in enrolling students,
scheduling and working with our excellent group of professional music
teachers in insuring that our students, teachers and Starland are all
successful. With respect to the retail store you will assist with sales,
display and inventory.
While we are not set on a particular set of qualifications, the
successful candidate will likely have a mix of the following:
* You have significant customer service experience....all the better if
it is in a retail or school setting.
* You likely have at least some college education (College Student
and/or music student a plus)
* You are computer savvy and have experience with POP software.
* You likely love music and believe that it is a fundamental and vital
experience. You may play an instrument yourself.
This is part time position approximately 30 hours weekly – weekdays
2:00pm – 7:30pm M, W & Th, 11am - 7:15pm F and every Saturday 10:45am -
4:30pm. We offer competitive pay and benefits. Please

Starland Music Center is a privately owned music school and musical instrument
retail store that was founded in 1981.

We are Alameda’s oldest
and largest music teaching school with approximately 400 students
attending classes. We cater to children and adults. About 80% of our
students are below 18 years old.
We realize that most of
our students will not become professional musicians. We strive to create
a fun but educational environment with a well organized administration
and first rate equipment.
