Alive or Dead, What Musician would you do anything to see perform/meet?

Hmm…Maybe Bill Evans. I feel like we could talk about stuff. I also really like Michel LeGrand, and I’d love to ask him questions about his film compositions!

Greatest Musical Influence?
That’s a tough one! One of them is probably Michel LeGrand (an amazing film score composer)
Also, whoever wrote the music from Pokemon Red…That’s what got me playing music! (Junichi Masuda)

Any hidden talents besides music?
I can program Game Boys to make strange sounds and pictures. I actually make games on them! I also dance-particularly Cajun and Zydeco.

What did you want to be while you were growing up?
I wanted to be an astronaut. I’m not an astronaut though and I’m okay with that.

If you could have any ‘Super Power’, which one would it be?
I am fine with myself the way that I am! But if I magically could have one, I would like to lift things with my mind.

If you could master any other instrument which would it be?
I’d play the accordion!

Have you had what people would consider your “15 Minutes of Fame”, and if so when/what was that?
I made a strange Game Boy game that a lot of game developers liked. I also arranged some synthesizer music for other video games that people play!

It’s your last meal: What would it be?
Southern Fried Tofu bowl at Souley Vegan in Oakland! It’s my faaaaavorite!

You’re sent to a deserted island, and you only have one album to listen to: Which is it?
Probably the soundtrack to Katamari Damacy (a video game) or “Donuts” by J Dilla

If you could leave one lesson with your students what would it be?
Play with music! Play with your instrument! Find the music inside of it for yourself.
