Thanks for being apart of the Starland community!

Missing a Lesson

On the rare occasion you can’t make it to a lesson, be sure to give at least 24 hour notice. With notice, you may opt to do your lesson on Zoom during your normally scheduled time, or you may receive a custom recorded lesson from your instructor via LessonMate. Please either cancel your lesson under "scheduling" in TeacherZone or call or email the front team.

Without 24 hour notice, your lesson is forfeited.

Tuition Payments

All new students are enrolled in credit card autopay when they first enroll. You may switch to ACH (check debit) autopay at anytime via TeacherZone. There is a $6 discount per month if you sign up for ACH check autopay.

Autopay is run on the 1st of each month.

Any late or bounced payments will incur a billing charge. Lessons may be placed on hold until the account is current.

Your Lesson Time

Your lesson time is considered your responsibility. The tuition you pay reserves a place for you or your child in a specified appointment time. Consistent attendance is important. If for some reason your lesson time no longer works with your schedule, please check in with a front team member so we can help you find a time that does work.

Instructor Absences

On the rare occasion that your teacher isn’t available to teach, another awesome Starland instructor will cover for them.

Occasionally working with a different teacher offers students an opportunity to get a slightly different perspective from their regular teacher. This has proven valuable in maintaining a high-quality and well-rounded learning experience.

It’s important to note that the guest instructor will be paid whether or not the student attends the lesson. For this reason, we are unable to offer makeup classes or alternative options for any student absences.

If your regular instructor is unavailable and we cannot find a guest instructor for your lesson, the lesson will be "banked" TeacherZone account. You can use that banked lesson to reschedule with your instructor at a later date. All banked lessons expire 90 days from the original absence.

School Holidays

You are guaranteed a minimum of 46 lessons over a 12 month period. This means that 6 times over 12 months, you won't have a lesson on your scheduled day. Some months you may get 5 lessons, because there are 5 weeks on your day. This means that some months you may get 3 lessons because of a holiday. Tuition will be the same each month whether you have 3, 4 or 5 lessons. The holiday calendar is available at the front desk and can be viewed under the "Calendar" tab.

Retail Account

While enrolled at Starland, we will automatically establish a retail account for you and your instructors to charge materials needed for lessons (i.e. books, picks, etc.). The materials on your account will not be charged automatically through auto pay and will need to be paid for separately.

TeacherZone

When you enroll for lessons, we register you on TeacherZone. This is our online portal that handles billing and scheduling. You will receive an email with login instructions and credentials when you enroll.

Please note, TeacherZone creates separate logins for parent and student. For schedule related things, please login to the student account. For billing related things, please login to the parent account. Adult students will have only one login.

Stopping Lessons: Hold

Putting lessons on hold is best for students planning to return in the near future.

Going on hold requires a 2-week notice and a non-refundable hold deposit equal to one month’s tuition. (this will be applied to tuition when you return). You can be gone for up to six months. We cannot reserve the same time or guarantee the same instructor upon returning, but every effort will be made to place the student in the best possible learning situation. You will receive priority scheduling for lessons.

Stopping Lessons: Withdraw

A minimum of 30 days notice is required to withdraw from lessons. This allows time to fill your reserved instruction and minimize disruptions. Without full notice, you'll be responsible for remaining classes within 30 days. We aim to fully support your learning goals - please talk to us if you need help.

A withdraw notice can be submitted to us via email at starlandmusic@gmail.com, by phone at 510-523-4797, or in person.
