Starland School of Music will provide the above lesson program with a qualified and competent instructor. It is understood that no one teacher in particular is being guaranteed but Starland will use its discretion in providing the best instructor at any particular time. Student (Parent/Guardian) agrees that student’s cancellation of or failure to attend lessons shall not absolve Student (Parent/Guardian) of the obligation to make payment to Starland, in the amounts and on the dates specified by this agreement.

Payment for services provided for by this Agreement shall be made by Student (Parent/Guardian) in the following manner upon execution of this agreement. The first payment will include prorated tuition for the first month of lessons plus a one time registration fee. Each consecutive month thereafter will be a full month of tuition until this Agreement is terminated by either party. The registration fee is $59 per student due at the time of registration. Registration fees are non-refundable. Should an increase in fees be necessary, Starland agrees to give Student (Parent/Guardian) thirty (30) days prior notice.

NO STATEMENTS WILL BE SENT. Tuition fees are processed monthly PRECEDING lessons on the 1st. All students are automatically enrolled in Credit Card auto pay. Please let us know if your credit card information changes, or update it on TeacherZone BEFORE the due date. Any declined automatic payment or late payment will accrue a $20 billing charge and lessons may be placed on hold until the account is current. I authorize Starland School of Music to charge my account the appropriate monthly tuition for my family’s music lessons on the 1st of the month preceding lessons.

I authorize Starland School of Music to charge my provided credit card for initial payment, and consecutive monthly tuition on the first of each month. I understand that this authorization will remain in effect until I cancel it in writing, and I agree to notify Starland School of Music of any changes in my account information or termination of this authorization at least 15 days prior to the next billing date. If the above noted payment dates fall on a weekend or holiday, I understand that the payments may be executed on the next business day. I acknowledge that the origination of Credit Card transactions to my account must comply with the provisions of U.S. law. I certify that I am an authorized user of this Credit Card and will not dispute these scheduled transactions; so long as the transactions correspond to the terms indicated in this authorization form. I understand that any declined automatic billing payment will accrue a $20 billing charge. I agree to pay the declined tuition within 6 days of notice. (Please Note: Lessons may be placed on hold until your account is current.)

In the event that a Student is late for scheduled lessons, said lessons shall continue and end in accordance with the scheduled time. Please be on time (or a little early) for lessons. It is understood that Starland will provide the Student with a minimum of 46 lessons during one school year period (12 months) as long as the Student attends scheduled lessons. If Student does not show up for a scheduled lesson, it will be counted as one of the 46 lessons regardless. The Student (Parent/Guardian) agrees that Starland will not provide lessons which fall during holidays as listed in the Starland School Calendar. There are no reschedules or virtual makeup lessons for these days.

It is the student's responsibility to attend their lesson. Starland offers unlimited custom virtual make-up lessons with a minimum of 24-hour notice. We do not offer in-person make-ups. The online make-ups are produced during the student's normal lesson time and are available after that time. Without 24-hour notice of an absence, the lesson is forfeited. Please note that the Yamaha program does not use virtual makeups. You may follow up with the instructor for more information on missed lessons.

Starland reserves the right to replace a teacher with a new qualified teacher in the event a teacher resigns or is terminated from their position. You will be notified if this change is necessary.

On the rare occasion your teacher isn’t available to teach, another Starland instructor will cover for them. Occasionally working with a different teacher offers students an opportunity to get a slightly different perspective from their regular teacher. This has proven valuable in maintaining a high-quality and well-rounded learning experience. The guest instructor will be paid whether or not the student attends the lesson. For this reason, we are unable to offer makeup classes or alternative options for any student absences. In the event a guest instructor is unavailable, your lesson will be banked in TeacherZone. You may use your banked lesson to schedule a makeup lesson with your instructor. If you and the instructor cannot agree upon a makeup lesson time, you may submit a request for a refund. All banked lessons and refund requests expire 90 days from the original absence.

Student (Parent/Guardian) may terminate this Agreement for any reason whatsoever with a full thirty (30) days prior written notice to Starland. Withdrawals must be communicated to the front team at the school office to ensure that your account will no longer be charged after your final lesson. To stop lessons, send an email to starlandmusic@gmail.com. or call the front desk at 510-523-4797 In the event this Agreement is terminated, Student (Parent/Guardian) shall be obligated to make payment to Starland through the termination date which shall be considered a full 30 days from the date that Starland is notified in writing of termination. Starland reserves the right to terminate lessons to any students without notice. In such a case a refund for unused lessons will be given.

Parents, legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal lesson activity or any other activity conducted by the students before, during or after lesson time.
